Auckland – 9th June 2017: Introducing the all-new Volkswagen Arteon. Aerodynamic contours, frameless windows and a striking overall design – the Arteon’s allure endures far beyond the first encounter. Both elegant and dynamic the new four-door coupe offers a remarkable amount of space and comfort.

First Class Performance
The Arteon is set to thrill with its turbocharged engine delivering 206kW with 350Nm torque. The coupe is not only great to look at, it boasts exceptional performance, with an acceleration time of 5.6 seconds from 0–100km/h. The powerful engine is coupled with a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG) and 4MOTION drivetrain. DCC Adaptive Chassis Control is a standard feature that offers stability at high speed and every standard model is fitted with 19-inch alloys.

Advanced safety features that look ahead
Advanced innovative driver assistance and convenience systems optimise the connection between comfort and driving dynamics. The second generation Emergency Assist works in conjunction with Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) to offer more safety behind the wheel. If the driver has a health event, the system not only slows the car down but also steers it into the slow lane, eventually bringing the vehicle to a stop.

Intelligent Design
Enter the exquisite interior of the Arteon and it’s clear to see, luxury and intelligent design continue throughout the cockpit. The standard ergoComfort seats in Nappa leather offer exceptional comfort for any journey. The innovative Active Info Display with a 12.3 inch TFT screen with customisable views can be tailored to the driver’s preferences. The upgraded Discover Pro 9.2-inch glass covered touchscreen is the infotainment and navigation system for the especially discerning driver, and with innovative gesture control as standard, the multimedia can be controlled with a single hand movement.

The new Arteon: democratising excellence
The all new Arteon is fitted with a high level of standard features positioning it as the new premium offering of the Volkswagen range. The avant-garde design embodies the best luxury genes known from premium models while being accessible with a starting price of $74,990.

Volkswagen General Manager Tom Ruddenklau commented; “Since we first laid eyes on the Arteon we knew Volkswagen were creating something quite special that will appeal to a wide range of customers here in New Zealand.

At the heart of Volkswagens DNA is world class engineering that is accessible to many. The Arteon is a perfect personification of this and we, like many of our existing Volkswagen customers are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Arteon to our shores”

Available in New Zealand in September 2017.

How on earth to start this? I've been car/bike/truck crazy since I was a teen. Like John, I had the obligatory Countach poster on the wall. I guess I'm more officially into classic and muscle cars than anything else - I currently have a '65 Sunbeam Tiger that left the factory the same day as I left the hospital as a newborn with my mother. How could I not buy that car? In 2016 my wife and I drove across the USA in a brand-new Dodge Challenger, and then shipped it home. You can read more on www.usa2nz.co.nz. We did this again in 2019 in a 1990 Chev Corvette - you can read about that trip on DriveLife. I'm a driving instructor and an Observer for the Institute of Advanced Motorists - trying to do my bit to make our roads safer.
