We Visit our Sponsors Final Touch

At the start of the year we where on our way to Auckland to take part in the 2013 Cannon Ball Run. And while we were there we wanted to drop in to see our main Auckland Sponsor, Final Touch. Gordon the owner of Final Touch Auckland a true auto enthusiasts at heart has played a very influential part in the creation of AutoClique NZ and has been supporting us right from day one. And we thought there would be no better way to start the Cannon Ball run by first giving the AutoClique Audi R8 the Final Touch.

From time to time we have the pleasure of working on vehicles belonging to true enthusiasts, you know the type – they fully understand the detailing language and they take more care of their personal vehicle than most professional detailers are capable of.  John aka JSG on their community forum is such an enthusiast, so to be presented with an opportunity to perform our Final Touch services of Polish, Stone chip Repair and to add an application of Optimum Opticoat 2.0 to seal and protect the paintwork was quite an occasion.   It’s difficult at times to make a great looking, well cared for car look better but we were very happy with the results on this beautiful Audi R8.  It was what we’d call a dream job. Thanks a lot for the opportunity John.

Gordon – Final Touch Auckland

Remember to check out our Timelapsed video of the days work on the Audi R8 at the bottom of the page.

The steps where simple, Wash, Polish, Stone chip Repair and a coat of Optimum Opticoat 2.0, but the attention to detail was second to none.

Stage 01 : The Wash

Our Audi R8 had just covered the 640km drive from Wellington to Auckland and was in need of a good wash. Gordon and his team got straight to work using the auto detailers trusty two bucket system.

Stage 2: The Polish

Now that the R8 was clean, they tapped up any exposed trim around the car and with a clay bar removed any contamination that had built up on the clear coat.

Now free of all contamination the clear coat was ready for a good polish. This process brings out a deep crystal clear reflection.Stage 3: Stone Chip Repair

This is where Final Touch steps into a league of their own. First they match up the vehicles paint colour, then this solution is sprayed into the stone chip cavity, filling it completely. After the filled chip is wiped down to match the surface of the existing clear coat. Once dry even the keenest eyes will have trouble finding the location of the repaired chips as their Airbrush Spray and Wipe techniques are flawless.

Stage 4: Optimum Opticoat 2.0

This is an advanced polymer system offered by Final Touch that adds a permanent layer of clear coat over the existing automotive finishes. Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 provides better scratch resistance, better UV resistance, better chemical etch resistance, and has better release properties than factory clear coats. Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 helps to keep your car clean longer and continues to bead water and sheds dirt for years.

Stage 5: That Showroom Shine, This is the moment that every automotive enthusiast loves, seeing there pride and joy shining the the afternoon sun. The only thing left to do was hit the road and get ready for the start of the Cannon Ball run.

We would like to say a big Thank You to Gordon and his team at Final Touch Auckland. Thanks guys, we had a great time hanging out with Gordon and the Team,  you did an awesome job on the R8.
