Volkswagen unveiled there possible interest in the performance ute club with the Amarok ute at this years Wothersee event.

The performance based Amarok Concept is power by 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 engine producing 200kW of power and 600Nm of torque. Combined with an eight-speed automatic and 4 wheel drive VW claim the concept has a 0-100kmh of 7.9 seconds. This is still quite a bit behind the standards of todays “performance utes” with the HSV Maloo doing the 0-100kmh in around 5 seconds.

But this is one to watch, as they may be the first brand in years to venture into performance ute market.
