The new X5, which will arrive in showrooms early next year has introduced a Performance M version. The X5 M50d has what BMW states “is the worlds most powerful” 3.0 L in-line six diesel engine that develops an output of 280 kW (381 hp) and a peak torque of 740 Newton metres (546 lb-ft).

Standard extras include Adaptive M suspension including Dynamic Damper Control and air suspension at the rear axle and Electric Power Steering and 19-inch M light-alloy wheels. The M50d has a quicker time of 5.3 seconds for the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) 1.3 seconds faster then the xDrive40d while improving the fuel economy by more than ten per cent. Average fuel consumption for the new BMW X5 M50d is 6.7 litres per 100 kilometres (42.2 mpg).

It started at a young age with bedroom posters, the Countach of course. This slowly grew into a super car die-cast model collection, fifty five 1:18 models at the last count. At which point it had almost taken full control, the incurable Mad Car Disease ran deep though my veins all the way to the bone. And things for my loved ones just got worse as the cars where now being bought at 1:1 scale, after a BMW, HSV, and couple of Audi's, the disease reached my brain, pushing me over the edge and down the rabbits hole into the world of the bedroom poster.
