With the first vehicle being the 2015 BMW i8 and only available in the high beam mode. Other makers have announced that similar technology for their vehicles but BMW are leading the way in implementing it into a production car. Eventually the technology well be filtered down through the rest of their range.  At the moment LED has lead the market in energy usage and light output but lasers will improve on that while having an advantage in increased intensity and range.
