The-Glass-Age

Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman talk about the history of glass and how even thought it has been around for centuries it has only begun to advance its technology in the last couple of decades. Corning has recently been putting its Gorilla Glass into the screens on recent smart phones, the glass can take a lot more punishment than regular glass, it is very hard to scratch and usually withstands normal falls even onto concrete. Now they are looking at putting this technology into car windows, specifically windscreens. If they replace one of the two pains of glass on a standard windscreen they say it can reduce the weight by up to a third. In the video you can see the tests that they guys do and shows how it can protect you from flying stones and bits of glass coming into the cabin.

The first video is a bit of the history of glass while the second shows you what the future holds for glass.

Racing games is where my love for cars started. Always wanting to play more and more realistic games until I was allowed to get behind the wheel. Combine this with my love for technology and that has made me who I am today. I love to see my two passions combining and see what technologies are being used in the latest cars.
