We’ve seen it in the Avengers movie being driven by Tony Stark. We’ve seen concepts of it at multiple motor shows. Heck, we’ve even seen it on video games. But now we can finally see it in production ready form. Well sort of. Honda have given us teaser photos of the actual NSX (aka Acura NSX in North America) that’ll go on sale next year. It looks pretty much the same as the concepts and prototypes we’ve seen before. Which is no bad thing as it looks like it came straight out of a movie from the future.

The actual car will be shown at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2015. Not much is known about it the NSX at the moment. It’s all a bit hush-hush, much like the lead up to the launch of the ND Mazda MX-5. So far we know the NSX will have around “400bhp+” from a hybrid powertrain. A 3.5-litre V6 will be mated to three electric motors; two powering the front and one powering the rear along with the petrol V6. There’ll be a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission though there’s no mention of a manual. Don’t get your hopes up though.

This is a hybrid, AWD sports car. This is after all an all-new breed of NSX for an all-new world. Reports have said Honda’s engineers benchmarked the NSX against the Nissan GT-R, Audi R8, and McLaren 12C as well as the Ferrari 458 and Porsche 911. The previous NSX was known for offering supercar levels of performance for half the money. The new NSX seems to want to pull off the same trick too. Can’t wait to see if it does and how it fare up to its rivals. It’d be interesting to see it up against the BMW i8, which is probably it’s closest direct rival in terms of price and class.
