This is a simple yet heartfelt story that will only sing out to the automotive enthusiast of the world. A story about love and memories, but also about letting love go. This is a story about a very unique 1957 series 1 Land Rover, that was a camp fire for 4 young NZ lads. But like any young lads who were madly in love with their vehicle, they were broke. And as life moved on the Land Rover fell beneath the cracks of family responsibilities. So much so that they had to do whatever car guys fears, making the hard decision to sell up, passing what was left on to a deserving owner. But Land Rover had other plans, and little did the lads know they Land Rover themselves bought the car and set out to fully restored it, and deliver their lost love back to them on Valentines day. Luckily for Land Rover, the car was already in bits, all they had to do now was strip it down, right back to the bare metal and refinish it like it was ready to go to the showroom floor. Only the true enthusiasts among us would know the pain and suffering of losing a love vehicle like this, and even fewer of us would ever know the joy and euphoric feeling these lads felt when their 1957 series one Land Rover was returned to them, looking like it had just rolled off the production line. You can’t help have a bit of respect for Land Rover, as they know that they don’t just make objects that get us from A to B, they can very easily become loved family members, a love that Land Rover themselves put into each and every vehicle.
