After Aston Martin, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, Nissan, Subaru, Infinitiand Chevrolet, the French felt it was also time to put together their ideal race car. Alpine’s virtual wonder is a single-seater with a carbon monocoque, double wishbones, pushrods, adjustable springs and dampers, a seven-speed sequential gearbox and a 4.5 liter V8 that revs to 7,500rpm and sends 450 horsepower and 427 foot pounds of torque to the rear wheels. The whole thing weighs just 1,984 pounds (900 kg) distributed evenly with 47 percent at the front and 53% at the rear. Its virtual top speed is claimed to be 200 mph while stopping power comes from 390mm vented discs with six-pot calipers at the front, and 355mm/four-pots at the rear.
This will be available online from March.
