It’s starting to appear in a lot of the new cars on the market, somewhat AI like awareness by the addition of an emergency braking system. The idea is simple, the car knows how fast it’s going, and with the help of radar, how close the object is in front of them. In the event the driver loses focus or is distracted for a moment this dead man’s switch style system kicks into gear. First it usually alerts the driver with a loud noise and then applies the brakes in an effort to either avoid hitting the object ahead or reduce the speed at which you do hit it. Its overall focus is to minimise any chance of serious injuries.
