A ute fit for any Gotham-based superhero. You have to applaud Land Rover/Range Rover tuners Kahn for this creation. While other manufacturers are pooling their resources in search for a brighter, cleaner, emission-free future (looking at you, VW), Kahn are out putting more wheels on already large cars.
Enter the Kahn ‘Flying Huntsman’ ute. Using a Defender 110 as a base, there’s now three axles, six wheels, and a whole lot of presence. Kahn showed off a roofed concept earlier this year, though to my eyes the pick up version looks much, much cooler.
Whereas the hardtop Huntsman comes with a big GM-soruced 500bhp/367kW 6.2-litre V8 and an equally large £200,000 ($476,034) price tag, the topless Huntsman comes with a more frugal 130bhp/95kW 2.2-litre diesel in base form. That might not sound like a lot to power something as big as this. Kahn realises this too so the GM V8 can be fitted as an (expensive) option.
Standard kit (among more wheels than doors) includes the matte black paint job, wheels with red bits on them (who doesn’t want that?!), front bucket seats (just what every Defender owner needs), a steering wheel with metal spokes, and diamond quilted leather everywhere. Everywhere.
Kahn will only build 20 of these magnificent things a year. Prices start from £99,875 ($237,192). A bargain really, especially when compared to the £370,000 ($880,563) Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6. Kahn expects to deliver the first batch to customers next year. I suspect these will be seen parked outside a boutique store rather than on a paddock.
