Things have been pretty quiet on the quattro front for the last few weeks, I have been waiting as patiently as I can, trying my best not to hassle the bodyshop too much for progress updates.

My other car needed fixing after someone ran into it and drove off, so this was a very good excuse to get it sorted out, and visit the Audi a few times. Just Rust did a great job of fixing the Skoda, and showed me around some of their current projects including a classic Porsche Targa Rally car which was getting a completely new floor.

In the meantime I have been acquiring as much knowledge as I can about the car, bookmarking many websites, joining forums etc. A couple of people have even sent me DVDs  and emails containing rare parts information and manuals. Great stuff!

I’ve found out some cool stuff about the urquattro. For example although the Audi Coupe and Coupe quattro were mass produced on a production line, the turbo cars were hand built. They were the 80s equivalent of the R8.

The list of jobs on the garage wall is growing steadily

I stripped the headlights apart and sent the reflectors off to Avdanced Chrome Platers in Hamilton, who did a great job of re-coating them in silver.

My plan of not buying anything unnecessary has been slightly derailed this week when I bought a restored and re-covered Audi Sport steering wheel (from Ebay) and some clear indicator lenses for the front of the car (from a Facebook group!). I also bought a big box of Dynamat when Repco had a 25% off sale.

At the last visit work had started, one of the big holes was gone, along with several smaller ones, and the rear panel was looking great.

Just Rust sent me some shots of the work too:

More updates soon as Rusty is booked in for work the whole of next week.

Next time I’ll take a proper camera instead of using my phone.

I love everything about cars! Driving, looking at them, modifying. It's great to see what people do with cars, the different car cultures. If I was rich, my garage would be bigger than my house!
