Welcome to another Team Talk, where we ask the Auto Clique team some questions and get their opinions.
We asked the team what would be the dream driving holiday/experiance?
Ken Saito: For me my dream drive would have to be a big grand tour of Europe with a few friends. I’ve never been to Europe before but if I’m going to see it for the first time I want to see all of it, but mostly the roads and car museums. Ideally I’d start in Italy and blast up the Stelvio Pass and into the Alps. I’d head over to Eastern Europe first, probably as far as Moscow then head over back to the West and into Scandinavia. The finale would be a drive down the Riviera. In my mind all this is happening in the summer because the car I’d like to take would be some sort of convertible GT. It’d have to be comfortable and luxurious but at the same time have enough go to overtake camper vans and be fun around the Alps. Something like a Maserati Grancabrio or an Aston Vanquish Volante would do the job.
Rob Clubley: I have a strange urge to drive right around Australia. I love Aussie’s scenery and its fascinating (and deadly) wildlife. It would be a family trip over several weeks so we’d need something with a bit of space and room for luggage. It would also need to be a car that would be able to stretch its legs on those long Northern Territory highways, and have some fun on the twisty bits. According to Google Maps it’s about 15,000km right around, plus a big detour through the Red Centre to see Uluru, and of course a side trip to tour Tasmania. So let’s round it up to about 20,000km. For a trip like that you need a grand tourer, so I’m picking the Porsche Panamera Turbo S.
Alan Stevenson-Galvin: Mine would be a road trip around Europe. I would fly home with my partner and meet up with all my mates back home. then set off on a road trip to cross Europe and back (a few times, most likely) in different super cars. experiencing the different roads from the Millau Viaduct, to the alps and autobahn and up into Sweden and Norway, stopping at a few tracks along the way like Imola, and the green hell. This would most likely be a few weeks of driving, but hey I can dream.
Fred Alvrez: Call me the Yank of the team, but I’d love nothing more than to buy the latest C7 Corvette and hit the road…where else? Starting at Chicago, trace whatever is left of Route 66.
Since the Corvette is only a two-seater – no kids. But for my wife and I, that would be just fine…
Sure, Europe would be nice, but imagine pulling up in some small town diner in your Corvette, feasting on whatever fried food is on offer (and no doubt smothered in cheese). Cheap coffee, cheap gas, C7 Corvette. Nirvana!
We’d end up at Santa Monica naturally. The best part of this Dream Drive is that we ship the C7 back to New Zealand and enjoy it all over again

John Stevenson-Galvin: I think mine would be a couple of weeks driving around mainland Europe, finding all those mountain amazing roads that you see on Top Gear or in action movies. Slowly making my way around all the different countries. And I would like to do this in something that not only has a bit of style and comfort, but can rip it up when the road asks for it.
