2016 All American Car Day (Trentham)

It seems to be an ongoing thing each year for All American Car Day in Wellington – stunningly hot weather. This weather really brought out the crowds – I’ve never seen so many other years. And as well as crowds, it seemed to bring out more cars too – there were two extra areas open for American cars that I’ve never seen used before.

One unusual thing was the number of newer cars from the US; I’m guessing may 10% of cars there were newer than say year 2000. There were quite a few newer Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers dotted around the grounds at Trentham. I saw this last year at All British Car Day last year too – an increasing number of newer cars turning up to show. Nothing wrong with that at all, and if it means more cars then excellent.

Quite a few drool-worth cars to look at. Stand outs for me in the older cars was the number of ’57 Chev Bel Airs and some good pre-1970 Ford thunderbirds. In the newer cars department I have to go with the Viper and Plymouth Prowler, although my favourite for the day has to be the latest model 2015 C7 Corvette. Stunning in black and with a red interior? Guess what I’ll be dreaming of tonight…
