Pagani says the ‘BC’ stands for Benny Ciaola, a close friend of Horacio Pagani. But in my mind the BC indicates this car is going to be something of biblical proportions. The numbers along suggest this is going to be Old Testament brutal.

This more powerful, more hardcore, and lighter Huayra develops a staggering 789bhp/580kW (or 800hp in man maths) and 811NM of torque from its AMG-sourced 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12. Pagani haven’t released any official performance figures but expect the BC to be quicker than the Huayra’s 0-100 km/h of 3.2 seconds 370 km/h top speed.

So the BC has performance figures worthy of a hypercar but this is a track-focused car. Pagani shaved 132kg off the Huayra, resulting in a 1218kg weight. To put that in perspective that’s about the same weight as a Toyota 86 with four times the power. An adrenaline rush this will be.

All that power drives the rear wheels via a new Xtrac 7-speed automated manual transmission. Pagani claims the Xtrac gearbox is 40% lighter than the current dual-clutch systems. The gearbox features an electro-hydraulic actuation system, carbon fibre synchronisers, and a Le Mans-derived tripod drive shafts. Say that three times without drooling.

The suspension in the BC is made of HiForg, an aeronautic-grade aluminium alloy, is said to be “the most effective and lightest ever fitted to a road car.” Let me stop for a second while I compose myself. Suspension made from aeronautic aluminium. That is unnecessarily awesome. The space age suspension is 25% lighter than the suspension used in the standard Huayra. Stopping the BC are specially designed carbon-ceramics brakes from Brembo.

The weight saving doesn’t end there. The specially developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres on the BC are 3% lighter than the standard Huayra’s tyres. The 255/30ZR20 and 355/25ZR21 tyres feature grooves similar to the Formula One slicks from a few years ago. The tyres are said to be able to cope with more than 1000hp.

The ESP system has been fettled and a ‘Track’ mode has been added to complement the ‘Comfort’ and ‘Sport’ modes. This is a car that’ll beg to be taken to a track but Pagani claims the ESP will allow every level of driver to enjoy the BC without hindering enjoyment.

Aerodynamics also played a significant role in shaping the BC. Literally. The BC was styled as much by the wind tunnels as it was by pen and paper. The extra aero bit such as the rear wing that splits opinion have been added to maximise aerodynamic efficiency and cancelling vehicle lift. The BC also features active aero. Pagan worked closely with Dallara Automobili in forming the BC. As a result the BC doesn’t share a single body panel (apart from the roof) with the Huayra its based on.

All 20 BCs have already been spoken for with orders already coming in for the yet-to-be-announced BC Roadster. Like it or not (and if you don’t then we can’t be friends) Pagani’s approach to supercars and engineering is something to respect. The blistering performance from a monstrous V12 propelling a lightweight body without the need of electric assistance in this day and age is something to applaud.
