Volvo S60 , V60 and XC60 To Get T6 Drive-E AWD Tech

Volvo’s award-winning T6 Drive-E 2.0 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine combined with the 8-speed Geartronic automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive is now available on the S60, V60 and XC60 mid-size models. And this engine should have won awards, many awards, as its a turbo and super changed engine. Which is not a combination anyone would have considered striving for efficiency.  The supercharger fills in the bottom lag giving it a big naturally aspirated engine feel, while the turbo kicks in at the top end to deliver a boost of top end power. The resulting engine in theory, as we have not road tested any of them yet, should have no lag or low power band zones. This tech also generates high end torque figures from very small engines, giving the S60, 430 Nm, which enables it to get from 0-100km.h in 5.8 seconds. Not bad from a 2.0L in a fully size wagon.

Each of the R-Design variants of S60, V60 and XC60 T6 come standard with Polestar Performance Optimisation, sporty looks and suspension.  And Volvo’s in-house high performance division, Polestar, have focused on responsiveness and drivability across the full rev-range, aiming to provide a more enjoyable driving experience from your every-day road driving situations.

This engine apart from delivering a decent punch, is also quite economical. Fuel consumption are 6.9 L/100 km for the S60, 7.0 L/100 km for the V60 and 7.7 L/100 km for the XC60. Volvo Car New Zealand National Manager Coby Duggan believes the unique combination of high performance with all-wheel drive and low fuel consumption will draw new buyers to Volvo’s mid-sized S60 sedan and V60 sports wagon.  With the XC60, he sees existing owners of diesel vehicles in the premium mid-sized SUV segment being attracted to the proposition of the power and refinement of a petrol engine with fuel economy comparable to a diesel.
