Nissan have announced an impressive new engine which will be used as a technology demonstration in their hybrid Le Mans endurance car this year.

Called the DIG-T R, it weighs just 40kg and is 500mm tall, 400mm long, and 200mm wide. The 1.5 litre three cylinder engine has specially crafted lubricants to reduce wear and enhance performance, and a turbocharger, enabling it to make 400bhp and 280lbft of torque.

Impressive stuff.
