Maserati will double production of its latest model, the Levante, from Monday 30 May 2016 with the all-new production line specifically built for the legendary car maker’s new SUV model switching to two production shifts a day.

Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year, Maserati is enjoying unprecedented interest in the Levante which will arrive in Australia and New Zealand at the beginning of 2017. From Monday 30 May more than 1200 people will be working on the new Maserati Levante production line, including 550 new workers who start next week following extensive training in the unique construction and personalization techniques and technology employed to produce the Levante.

Maserati has also confirmed that additional workers will be employed in the middle of the year to further boost production as the Levante is launched into more markets around the world.

The new Levante production line is within one of Italy’s most famous car plants, Mirafiori in Turin, which has been producing cars since 1939. Mirafiori is now home not just to the latest Maserati production line, but also the heart of the FCA Group’s Research and Development Centre. Mirafiori joins the Grugliasco factory, also in Turin, and the historic production line in Maserati’s home city, Modena, in producing Maseratis.

The all-new production line for the Levante uses the latest computer control, robot welding and assembly and paint application technology to set new levels of production quality, while at the same time it employs unique traditional handcrafted skills to provide the personalization and exclusive leather and silk interiors for which Maserati is justifiably world famous.

Mirafiori is a fully integrated production facility with significant R&D capabilities, where nearly 17,000 people apply the principles of World Class Manufacturing to ensure the highest standards in quality, efficiency, safety and environmental performance.
