Drool time: new bikes being released from Suzuki & Kawasaki

After what feels like forever, we are finally starting to see some new models being released.

Both press releases are a bit light on detail but we are promised much more detail sometime later.

The star surely has to be the new Kawasaki H2. I’d love to put one in my lounge just to look at it. Stunning design.

Suzuki Unveils New Models at INTERMOT

Suzuki Motor Corporation has unveiled five new motorcycle models for 2017 at the INTERMOT International Motorcycle, Scooter and Bicycle Fair held in Cologne, Germany.

In 2017, Suzuki will introduce the all-new GSX-R1000/GSX-R1000R supersport bikes, as well as the newest and the smallest displacement model in the series, the GSX-R125, plus, the second model in the street sportbike series, the GSX-S750. The all-new V-Strom 1000/V-Strom 1000XT and V-Strom 650/V-Strom 650XT adventure bikes are also unveiled for 2017.

In addition to the above five models, four more models are to be unveiled at the EICMA2016 (Milan Show), which will be held in Milan, Italy in November. Suzuki is scheduled to introduce a total of nine new models in 2017.

At the recent press conference Toshihiro Suzuki, President, Suzuki Motor Corporation said, “Today you will see that we are continuing to build the Suzuki brand, and position motorcycles as a core part of Suzuki’s entire business group. As part of this, we are introducing enhanced model series that can be enjoyed by everyone, from people just starting out on a bike through to veteran riders. Looking ahead, there is much more to come from Suzuki, as we strive to produce refreshing, creative products that exceed expectations in every possible way.”

2017 Kawasaki ZR900A/B (Z900) – All new model.

Powerful 948 cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke In-line four engine has a quick-revving character and a strong mid-range hit that pulls strongly to the redline.  Adding to rider exhilaration, a distinct intake note encourages you to twist the throttle.  Silky smooth power delivery facilitates control while contributing to rider comfort and confidence.

Benefiting from a chassis comprised of lightweight components, the Z900 weighs in at 210.5 kg (208.5 kg for non-ABS models) – even after clearing Euro 4.  Its lightweight trellis frame (similar to H2) and swingarm were the key to the Z900’s nimble handling.

The Z900’s low weight and low seat height (794 mm) both contribute to maneuverability, whether walking beside the bike, or foot peddling in a parking lot.  The easy-to-manage engine response and wide steering angle further facilitate low-speed maneuvering.

2017 Kawasaki EX650K (Ninja 650 ABS) – All new model.

Kawasaki Ninja 650

True Ninja styling, Redesigned twin cylinder engine, better fuel efficiency, lower emissions, lower weight 193 kg curb mass for ABS model. Lower seat height. Adjustable windshield. New instruments with gear indicator. Assist and slipper clutch. New trellis frame (similar to H2) and new brakes.

2017 Kawasaki H2 and H2 Limited Edition, 2017 H2R

The Ultra High performance H2 models continue for 2017 with improvements and a special very limited Edition H2 Carbon.

ZX1000X  (H2 and H2 LE)  It retains the supercharged 998cc 4-cyliner engine. Rear suspension now uses an Ohlins TTX36 shock.

Instruments have a bank angle display show how far you are lean over. New chassis electronics with the IMU as used on the Championship leading ZX-10R Superbike.

This includes the Cornering Management feature. The new quick-shifter allows clutch-less downshifts.

Only 120 of the H2 Limited edition will be built. This features a carbon fibre top cowling like the H2R. Like the 2017 H2R the special mirror paint has a matt element. The frame is painted with the candy metallic green like the 2015 H2. Each limited edition model has a serial number plate on the side of the engine, 0 to 120.

Like other new 2017 model  the H2 and H2 LE will have ERGO FIT accessories to tailor the bike to suit the rider.
