One of New Zealand’s fastest growing automotive brands to release a new 7-Seat SUV

The all-new Kodiaq introduces our award winning Crystalline design language to the SUV market
Local market press launch to follow in May.

Auckland, 2 February 2017 – New Zealand specification and pricing has been announced for the all-new ŠKODA Kodiaq and we couldn’t be more excited.

Arriving in New Zealand in May, this large-SUV is the most anticipated model in our modern era.
The Kodiaq promises to be a firm favourite for many Kiwi families thanks to a bold design, advanced platform architecture and ŠKODA’s revered functionality.

The Kodiaq is eye-catching and dynamic in our cities, yet rugged and flexible in our tough countryside. With 7 seats as standard and undoubtable value, this is the perfect vehicle for Kiwi families to discover our Simply Clever philosophy.

“New Zealand has a ravenous appetite for SUVs, and we’re seeing unprecedented levels of interest. With SUVs accounting for 52% of new car sales last year we’re looking forward to going head-to-head with the big volume models” says Greg Leet, ŠKODA General Manager.

An abundance of features and technologies are available, many being standard and many evolving from ŠKODA’s Simply Clever philosophy. All Kodiaq owners benefit from Pedestrian Monitor, a new autonomous safety system that prevents collisions with pedestrians and minimises the car’s speed in the event of an impact.

One of the 30 Simply Clever features found on Kodiaq is our door edge protection system. This mechanical system extends and retracts automatically to protect the metal door edge from making contact in our small supermarket car park spaces among other places.

By using the most advanced design methods and premium grade materials, the all-new Kodiaq is both strong and agile. Refined and proven in Kiwi conditions, our engines are highly efficient and provide a braked towing capacity of up to 2,000kg.

“Kiwi families will love how the all-new Kodiaq handles life. Kodiaq provides a clever combination of quality, fuel efficiency and European design. Kiwi families also demand great value and with the range starting from just $39,990, we’re proud to offer class leading value too” explains Ross Hill, Marketing Manager.

The all-new Kodiaq starts from $39,990 plus on-roads in Ambition specification including our advanced DSG transmission and Smartlink connectivity. The Ambition+ specification starts from $44,990 plus on-roads bearing ŠKODA’s sophisticated 4X4 powertrain and more. The range topping Style specification starts from $54,290 plus on-roads and adds a bounty of unique features and technologies including Dynamic Chassis Control.

How on earth to start this? I've been car/bike/truck crazy since I was a teen. Like John, I had the obligatory Countach poster on the wall. I guess I'm more officially into classic and muscle cars than anything else - I currently have a '65 Sunbeam Tiger that left the factory the same day as I left the hospital as a newborn with my mother. How could I not buy that car? In 2016 my wife and I drove across the USA in a brand-new Dodge Challenger, and then shipped it home. We did this again in 2019 in a 1990 Chev Corvette - you can read about that trip on DriveLife, and again in 2023 buying a C5 Corvette and shipping it home. I'm a driving instructor and an Observer for the Institute of Advanced Motorists - trying to do my bit to make our roads safer.
