A new Special Edition version of the Suzuki Swift, the SR3, is distinguished by a smoked black bonnet protector, black rear upper spoiler, matt black spoked design alloy wheels and Swift badged body side mouldings.
Building on the car’s body styling that has made the Swift a long-time top seller in New Zealand, Suzuki New Zealand says the SR3 is likely to create more attention while still offering excellent fuel economy and low emissions.
A wraparound windscreen, sloping roof and new C-pillar treatment with ‘floating roof’ effect are styling keys that have been endorsed by car buyers.
Based on the Swift GL, the SR3 is powered by the 1.2 litre Dualjet variable valve, 4-cylinder engine. CO2 emissions are extremely low, registering 106 grams/km with the manual and 110 grams/km for the CVT.
One of the reasons behind the model’s efficiency is the light but highly rigid HEARTECT platform that contributes to the Swift’s modest overall weight of 870 kg for the manual and 900 kg for the CVT.
Arriving with a competitive price tag, Suzuki expects the SR3 to sell out rapidly as stocks will be limited. The manual has a recommended retail price of $22,600 and the CVT is $24,990, plus on-road costs.
There are different specification levels, with the CVT carrying more comprehensive equipment as standard. The SR3 manual is fitted with Bluetooth audio system while the CVT version adds a Bosch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and reversing camera.
The SR3 upgrade includes replacing the GL’s 175/65 tyres on 15-inch diameter wheels with 205/45 Firestone Firehawk Sport01 tyres on 17-inch black alloy rims.
Additional to the existing range of Swift variants, the limited edition SR3 is being offered in five body colours, with Burning Red Pearl metallic, Super Black Pearl, Premium Silver metallic, White Pearl and Speedy Blue metallic.
Swift continues to increase in popularity, capturing a large 31.1 percent of the light car class in New Zealand last year, up from a 25.5 percent share in 2019.
Long regarded as an exceptional value package, the latest sixth generation Swift marks 15 years of class-leading sales in New Zealand, says Suzuki.
Suzuki New Zealand is offering the SR3 on a special 3.9 percent interest rate, no deposit offer, meaning the model is available from $97 per week.
With world sales of more than three million units a year, Suzuki is the eighth largest car maker, and the Swift continues as the brand’s best selling car in the New Zealand market.
