Edging ever closer, GMSV has confirmed the final step in the C8 Corvette ordering process, announcing the recommended retail price for the highly sought-after Carbon Edition, at the same time advising orders for the iconic mid-engine sports car are now officially open.

“The long wait is over, the books are open and our Dealers are ready to place orders,” said the Director of GMSV, Joanne Stogiannis.

“Excitement and anticipation have been building since the reveal of the C8 right-hand drive programme almost two years ago, even more so when we released recommended retail pricing for 2LT and 3LT models in late March.

“The build-up to this point will be sure to reach a real crescendo with release of the pricing and specification of the Carbon Edition.”

The Carbon Edition is exclusive to Australia and New Zealand and celebrates the long-awaited arrival of Corvette ‘Down Under.’  Only one of the limited production vehicles will be allocated to each GMSV Dealer.

The Carbon Edition, a 3LT available only as a Coupe, comes equipped with an option package handpicked by GMSV consisting of:

  • Carbon fibre interior package with carbon fibre inserts on the dash and door panels
  • Trident wheel with machined face in spectra gray
  • Colour coded brake calipers
  • Carbon fibre roof
  • Engine appearance lighting package with carbon fibre closeout panels
  • Unique Carbon Edition build plate
  • Exclusive Carbon Edition customer welcome pack

The carbon fibre elements along with the Trident wheel package are limited to the Carbon Edition as part of the MY22 production run.

One person who has already had the opportunity to drive the all-new C8 Corvette in Australia and experience some of its sensational performance attributes, albeit in a left-hand drive version, is Supercar legend Craig Lowndes.

“It’s stunning, the weight distribution is really nice, especially now that it’s mid-engined,” said the three-times Supercars Champion and seven-times Bathurst winner.

“It was supposed to be a demonstration run at The Bend, but I gave it a workout.  The paddle shifts worked extremely smoothly.

“For me to have had the opportunity to showcase it at Tailem Bend was fantastic.”

The recommended retail price:

  • Includes GST
  • Includes Premium Paint
  • Excludes on-road costs such as dealer-delivery and statutory charges
2LT Coupe$154,990
2LT Convertible$169,990
3LT Coupe$169,990

How on earth to start this? I've been car/bike/truck crazy since I was a teen. Like John, I had the obligatory Countach poster on the wall. I guess I'm more officially into classic and muscle cars than anything else - I currently have a '65 Sunbeam Tiger that left the factory the same day as I left the hospital as a newborn with my mother. How could I not buy that car? In 2016 my wife and I drove across the USA in a brand-new Dodge Challenger, and then shipped it home. You can read more on www.usa2nz.co.nz. We did this again in 2019 in a 1990 Chev Corvette - you can read about that trip on DriveLife. I'm a driving instructor and an Observer for the Institute of Advanced Motorists - trying to do my bit to make our roads safer.
