New Zealand pricing for all-new, driver-focused BMW M240i xDrive

The all-new BMW 2 Series Coupé, which broke cover at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year, will arrive in New Zealand at the end of 2021.  The 2 Series Coupé will be offered exclusively in its top form, the M240i xDrive.

The model starts a new chapter in the long and rich history of sport-focused compact models that began 55 years ago with the legendary BMW 02. Components and technology have been sourced from the new BMW 4 Series to update the car.

For the first time on the 2 Series, BMW’s advanced xDrive all-wheel-drive system is paired to a BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine.

2022 BMW M240i: A vehicle concept with its sights set on sporting prowess

The combination of compact dimensions, lightweight design, an up to 12 per cent increase in static torsional rigidity, 50:50 weight distribution and optimised aerodynamics.

A vehicle length of 4,537mm and width of 1,838mm represent 105mm and 64mm increases over the corresponding measurements of the predecessor model. However, the new car stands 28mm lower, with a vehicle height of just 1,390mm.

Other factors in the athletic appearance of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé are its wheelbase, which is now 51mm longer at 2,741mm, as well as the wide tracks.

Three-dimensional surfaces, triangular forms and diagonal lines characterise the striking front end of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé. Prominently flared wheel arches and a muscular power dome at the centre of the bonnet give a clear indication of the 2 Series Coupé’s dynamic driving characteristics.

The BMW kidney grille is horizontal in design and features vertically arranged air flaps at its heart in place of the classical bars. These open electrically when the engine has an increased requirement for cooling air.

The standard-fitment full-LED headlights are positioned in the outer reaches of the front end and have a single unit circular design that evokes the BMW 02.

Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling High Beam Assistant are offered as standard on the M240i xDrive.

2022 BMW M240i: Sporting flair and refined premium ambience for new interior

The driver-focused cockpit design and modern control panel on the centre console accentuate the sporting aura inside the new BMW 2 Series Coupé.

Sport seats and a sport leather steering wheel offered as standard equipment in New Zealand also feed into the engaging nature of the driving experience.

The tapering in the rear section of the roofline, the high centre console and the smoothly blending surface treatment of the instrument panel and door panels create a cocooning, cockpit-like feel around the driver and front passenger.

The individual-seat design of the two rear seats provides optimum support for passengers while further emphasising the new coupe’s sporting purpose.

High-quality materials and precise workmanship create a premium ambience above and beyond that of the predecessor model.

A new design feature comes in the form of trapezoidal accent surfaces above the armrests in the doors, which provide a contemporary look and feel.

Alcantara/Sensatec and leather ‘Vernasca’ trims in a variety of colours are offered as standard for local models, alongside a glass/tilt sunroof nearly 20 per cent larger overall than on the outgoing model.

The new BMW 2 Series Coupé offers a boot capacity of 390 litres and 35mm reduction in the height of the loading edge compared with the predecessor model.

2022 BMW M240i: Advanced chassis engineering with technology transfer from BMW 4 Series

The new model’s two-joint spring strut front axle and five-link rear axle minimises weight while providing increased rigidity. The M240i xDrive comes as standard with Adaptive M suspension, a powerful M Sport braking system and an M Sport differential at the rear.

19-inch M light alloy wheels further sharpen the car’s looks, complementing the more aggressive exterior styling.

2022 BMW M240i: Unparalleled driving pleasure powered by four- and six-cylinder engines

The 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line TwinPower Turbo engine of the BMW M240i xDrive delivers exemplary performance while also representing a unique offering in the segment.

Its performance characteristics, thirst for revs and smoothness reinforce its claim to unsurpassed sporting prowess.

With maximum output of 285kW, it develops 35kW more than the engine in its predecessor. Peak torque is 500Nm, helping the car accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.

The M240i xDrive Coupé shifts on an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission that delivers crisp gear changes that perfectly complement the unabridged nature of its power delivery.

2022 BMW M240i: A significantly broader selection of driver assistance systems

The new BMW 2 Series Coupé enhances safety and comfort with a significantly expanded selection of driver assistance systems compared with the predecessor model.

BMW Head-Up Display – which projects essential driving-related information onto the windscreen comes as standard equipment, while BMW Drive Recorder is available on request.

2022 BMW M240i: Advanced connectivity and new digital services

Both driver and passengers will benefit from the extended possibilities enabled by the inclusion of BMW Operating System 7 on the 2 Series Coupé.

Drivers can select their control interface for the situation at hand: control display touchscreen, proven BMW iDrive controller, multifunction buttons on the steering wheel or voice control.

The new BMW 2 Series Coupé also gives customers onboard access to a range of advanced digital services, including the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, BMW Digital Key and Remote Software Upgrades.

BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which will be standard in New Zealand, features a fully digital screen grouping.

This includes a high-resolution instrument cluster behind the steering wheel with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches and a 10.25-inch control display.

Full smartphone integration will enable the use of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via the car’s operating system.

The Remote Software Upgrades function allows improved vehicle functions and additional digital services to be imported into the car over the air, and customers will be able to download vehicle upgrades directly from the BMW Connected Store.
