Hyundai NZ announces all-new Tucson Hybrid prices and specs

Hyundai New Zealand has announced the pricing and specification of the all-new Tucson Hybrid, the latest addition to the all-new Tucson lineup.

With the addition of a hybrid powertrain, the Tucson now offers a range of electrified powertrains. Already seen in the all-new Tucson, the 1.6-litre T-GDi engine is paired with a combination of Hybrid or Plug-in Hybrid powertrains. Combined, the petrol engine and electric motor deliver 169 kW in the Hybrid and 195 kW in the Plug-in Hybrid and 350 Nm maximum torque. The Plug-in Hybrid also enjoys an electric-only range of up to 56km*.

In addition to styling and equipment shared with the rest of the range, the Tucson Hybrid range brings a number of technical changes for this powertrain, including active aerodynamics with an Active Air Flap that adjusts air intake depending on the engine coolant temperature, vehicle speed, and more, in order to minimise air resistance and maximise fuel efficiency.

The Tucson Hybrid is available with the option of both 2WD and AWD whilst the Plug-in Hybrid is exclusively AWD. With Hyundai HTRAC four-wheel drive technology and a Terrain Mode selector allows for safe driving on challenging terrain, says Hyundai. HTRAC can variably distribute driving power to the front and rear wheels depending on traction conditions and the driving state, while the Terrain Mode selector will optimise power, torque and braking depending on the road conditions.

Two trims are available on both Hybrid variants, Entry and Elite. Priced from $61,990, the Tucson Entry Hybrid specification highlights include 17” alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, and 8″ touchscreen multimedia system with wireless smartphone pairing. Elite specification starts from $66,990 and adds 19” wheels, a 10.25″ driver’s supervision instrument cluster, leather seat facings, and heated front and rear seats amongst other features.

Providing a high level of active safety equipment across its SUV model range, the Tucson Hybrid range includes a comprehensive suite of safety features as standard equipment, such as Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance, Blind-spot Collision Avoidance, Smart Cruise Control with stop & go, Safe Exit Assist, and more.

Chris Blair, General Manager – Passenger Cars, Hyundai New Zealand said, “The Tucson Hybrid range is an important player for Hyundai in our environmental commitments and the ongoing drive to lower the emissions of our vehicles. The launch of the Tucson Hybrid range will further grow its popularity within the key fleet markets with its combination of high standard specifications, low or zero-emissions capability and clean car rebate advantages on certain variants.

This dynamic vehicle will fulfil the requirements of many Kiwis who are looking for a versatile and economical medium-sized SUV, capable of doing the daily chores whilst having the size and performance to do the job out on the open road in the weekends.”

All-new Hybrid models come with Hyundai’s 3 Year 100,000 km Warranty, 8 year 160,000 km High Voltage Battery Warranty, Roadside Assistance package, and 10 Year Anti Corrosion Warranty.

The Tucson Hybrid range starts from $61,990 and will be eligible for the Clean Car Programme rebate of up to $2,900 depending on the model.
