The new Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC sedan becomes the second model in the EQS range to arrive in New Zealand, joining the performance-focused Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+.

Mercedes-Benz claims the car has outstanding luxury and refinement that is matched by enthusiastic performance, with the EQS 450 4MATIC developing 265 kW and 800 Nm from its dual e-motors for impressive responsiveness.

With an indicative all-electric range of up to 664 km (NEDC), the EQS 450 4MATIC is as well suited to luxurious touring with the family as it is to practical weekday commuting, says Mercedes-Benz.

New Zealand customers have the choice with the launch of the new Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC alongside the existing Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+, establishing a desirable new benchmark in the rapidly growing Mercedes-EQ range for space, design and refined mobility.

With dual e-motors mounted on each axle and the advanced 4MATIC system with Torque Shift, the EQS 450 4MATIC variably sends 265 kW and 800 Nm to all four wheels for acceleration from 0-100 km/h taking as 5.6 seconds. Standard rear-axle steering allows an angle of up to 4.5°, adding extra steering responsiveness at high speeds while also assisting with manoeuvrability in low-speed situations by significantly reducing the turning circle.

Fitted with a 107.8 kWh battery pack, the EQS 450 4MATIC can travel up to 664 km (NEDC) between charges, and can receive charge from both AC (max. 22 kW) and DC (max. 200 kW) power sources.

The design of the EQS 450 4MATIC is enhanced by the standard AMG Line exterior, combining an AMG-specific front bumper, rear apron and side skirts with 21-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels and the distinctive Mercedes-Benz grille. Inside, the Electric Art Line interior adds Comfort seats plus a Nappa leather finish for the attractive multifunction steering wheel.

The spacious rear seat gets a lounge-like makeover via the standard Rear Seat Package incorporating upholstered cushions, luxury head restraints and electrically adjustable backrests. The centre double cupholder is enhanced with an integral inductive charging pad.

The EQS 450 4MATIC also includes a 710-watt Burmester 3D surround sound system with 15 speakers, THERMOTRONIC four-zone climate control, heated and cooled front seats, a head-up display, premium MBUX navigation with augmented reality (AR) display, active ambient lighting with a choice of 64 colours, a glass panoramic sliding sunroof, advanced DIGITAL LIGHT headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, and Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC and a 360° camera.

The safety-focused Driving Assistance Package Plus includes DISTRONIC Active Distance Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, route-based speed adaptation, Active Traffic Assist, Active Steering Assist, Active Lane Change Assist and the PRE-SAFE Impulse Side accident preparation system.

The EQS 450 4MATIC is available to order from today, with first deliveries expected to start in September 2023. The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC retails from $218,700.
