It seems MG has been thinking the same, as 2024 sees an update of their most popular model, after its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Designed and built from the ground-up, MG Motor New Zealand Country Manager, Arek Zywot, said New Zealanders have a lot to be excited about with the new model.

“The HS continues to drive positive brand momentum, year-over-year for us globally and locally,” he said.

“The MG HS has been embraced by New Zealand families since its arrival, and the latest HS promises to  redefine expectations once again. The new HS continues MG’s commitment to versatility and innovation, with local specifications to be announced at launch in the second half of this year.

“Compared to the outgoing model, the new MG HS is 14mm wider (at 1,890mm) and 26mm longer (at 4,636mm), yet its sleek new profile reduces its overall height by some 30mm. The wheelbase has been lengthened by 30mm to 2,750mm, creating a more dynamic cabin.

“As we all know with kids and babies, boot space is essential. The new HS has plenty of space for the highchair, pram, balance bike, baby seat and luggage when you ditch the daily commute to go for a road trip.

“The technology offering has evolved with the HS featuring two prominent 12.3-inch high-definition  displays alongside and much more that we’ll be sure to share closer to launch.”

While specific local specifications are yet to be confirmed, one thing remains certain: the all-new HS will still be backed by a seven-year unlimited kilometre warranty and roadside assistance.

How on earth to start this? I've been car/bike/truck crazy since I was a teen. Like John, I had the obligatory Countach poster on the wall. I guess I'm more officially into classic and muscle cars than anything else - I currently have a '65 Sunbeam Tiger that left the factory the same day as I left the hospital as a newborn with my mother. How could I not buy that car? In 2016 my wife and I drove across the USA in a brand-new Dodge Challenger, and then shipped it home. We did this again in 2019 in a 1990 Chev Corvette - you can read about that trip on DriveLife, and again in 2023 buying a C5 Corvette and shipping it home. I'm a driving instructor and an Observer for the Institute of Advanced Motorists - trying to do my bit to make our roads safer.
