It’s been a while, but according to Honda New Zealand, it’s been well worth the wait, as the Honda HR-V returns to our shores after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus. But now it also boasts Honda’s latest hybrid technology, e:HEV, a unique, two-motor hybrid system.

The Managing Director of Honda New Zealand, Mr. Nobuya Sonoda, says, “I would like to thank our loyal fans for their patience. I know we have many customers waiting for HR-V’s return to New Zealand. Our 3rd generation HR-V hybrid is well worth the wait”.

2024 Honda HR-V: e:HEV technology

Equipped with Honda’s latest hybrid technology, e:HEV, a unique two-motor hybrid system, the HR-V delivers quick acceleration and engaging driving dynamics, says Honda.

The two-motor hybrid system automatically switches between petrol-driven and electricity-driven, selecting the most efficient for any given situation. According to Honda, the transition is so seamless, you won’t notice a thing and being a non-plug-in hybrid, the HR-V doesn’t attract any road user charges.

2024 Honda HR-V: “Expand your life”

According to Honda, the HR-V is a “fantastic urban vehicle” equipped with an electric tailgate with programmable height, Honda’s patented magic seat system and Android Auto and wireless Apple Carplay technology. Equally, they say the HR-V is more than capable on the open-road offering superb agile handling and engaging acceleration, all powered by our powerful e:HEV hybrid technology.

How on earth to start this? I've been car/bike/truck crazy since I was a teen. Like John, I had the obligatory Countach poster on the wall. I guess I'm more officially into classic and muscle cars than anything else - I currently have a '65 Sunbeam Tiger that left the factory the same day as I left the hospital as a newborn with my mother. How could I not buy that car? In 2016 my wife and I drove across the USA in a brand-new Dodge Challenger, and then shipped it home. You can read more on www.usa2nz.co.nz. We did this again in 2019 in a 1990 Chev Corvette - you can read about that trip on DriveLife. I'm a driving instructor and an Observer for the Institute of Advanced Motorists - trying to do my bit to make our roads safer.
