As we get close to the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, let’s take a look back at some of the highlights from this year’s instalment. For those making their way over to Tokyo in mid-January for the show itself and the festivities during the week leading up to it, let this be a taste of what to expect.

For me, as usual, it’s the Toyota Alphard/Vellfire minivans that are always the highlights. There always different takes on these luxury MPVs but all staying true to the original ethos; comfort and luxury. The newly unveiled Century SUV was shown at the Toyota stand in the yet-to-be-released for the public GRMN trim. Liberty Walk dropped jaws when they put their signature touch on a very real Lamborghini Countach. How will they follow that up in 2025? We’ll have to wait and see.

What I also enjoyed seeing, and will always enjoy to see are the fun builds that don’t take themselves too seriously. I’m taking about the off-road Boxster build, the Suzuki Jimny with the Renault 5 looking face, and the Cal’s Motors Sonova which is a Mitsuoka-style take on a Nissan NV200 Vanette made to look like a slice of old Americana.

What cars are you looking forward to seeing modified in their own unique ways in 2025? Have a look through Aaron Chung‘s photos below to see some highlights from 2024.

Words cannot begin to describe how much I love cars but it's worth a try. Grew up obsessed with them and want to pursue a career writing about them. Anything from small city cars to the most exotic of supercars will catch my attention.
