New Zealand electric motorbike manufacturer FTN Motion has officially released its new model, the Streetdog80.
The Streetdog80 has been designed and made in New Zealand, in FTN Motion’s Hamilton workshop. The bike is capable of speeds of up to 80kph and will have an estimated range of 140km when carrying a second battery on board.
Notable for its sleek ‘café racer’ style design and great build quality, the Streetdog80 is powered by a single motor in the rear wheel hub and features a removable battery that can be charged at any standard power outlet.

“The Streetdog80 is a significant step forward for us as a company,” said FTN Motion Co-Founder Kendall Bristow. “The extra speed allows users more freedom and lets them access more roads around the country. We’re proud to be building Streetdogs right here in New Zealand and growing the country’s strong legacy as a manufacturer of world-leading motorbikes.”
The Streetdog80 requires a motorbike license to ride and is the latest evolution of the company’s New Zealand-made urban commuter bike. It joins FTN Motion’s earlier model, the Streetdog50, which can be driven on a car licence and is capable of speeds of up to 50kph. The bikes have received international praise for their stylish retro design and urban commuting practicality.
Demand for the Streetdog80 is already strong, with the first production run of 50 bikes fully reserved ahead of its official launch.
“It’s great to see that consumers are really keen to get their hands on this bike,” said Bristow.

“With congestion, parking problems and the price of fuel, people are increasingly looking for smarter ways to commute, and many are choosing the Streetdog as the answer.”
The bike is simple to ride, featuring a PIN or tap-start system and an automatic, gear-free design that provides immediate acceleration and ease of use.
The Streetdog80 is made to order, starting from $13,600. Customers configure their bike online, choosing their desired colours, upgrades and accessories.

The release of the Streetdog80 marks the beginning of a big year for FTN Motion, with plans to expand into Australia in April.
“We’re really proud to be taking the Streetdog to Australia,” said Bristow. “We’ve already pre-sold 40 Streetdogs in Australia which shows how much of an opportunity that market is for us. We’re excited about the expansion and looking forward to seeing how well the bikes resonate with consumers across the ditch.”
FTN Motion launched in 2020 and has sold over 200 Streetdogs in New Zealand. The company was Co-founded by Luke Sinclair and Kendall Bristow who were inspired after engineering an E-bike for a university project.
FTN Motion is hosting a pop-up showroom in Britomart Auckland, allowing locals to meet the makers and take the bikes for a ride. The shop will open to the public from the 11th to the 15th of February.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to meet the Streetdog in its ideal urban environment,” said Michel, FTN Motion’s Head of Sales & Product. “Auckland is our fastest growing city, which is understandable considering how much time and cost someone can save when commuting on a Streetdog.”
Aucklanders can visit the pop-up showroom at 10 te ara Tahuhu, Britomart, Auckland. Customers can visit www.ftnmotion.com to reserve a Streetdog80 for delivery in April 2025, or to configure their own Streetdog50.
