The Ram 1500 Rebel is coming to New Zealand – due in local showrooms at the end of the month – as Ram Trucks prepares to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

It is the first time the off-road focused Rebel variant has been added to the Ram Trucks Australasia line-up, and it is expected to become a permanent part of the range.

As is the case with all other variants in the MY25 Ram 1500 line-up, Ram Trucks NZ has opted to equip the Rebel with a list of features that are optional extras in the US.

“We know Kiwi Ute buyers don’t just want tough; they want uncompromising capability. The Ram 1500 Rebel delivers with black-accented tough-truck styling, a heavy-duty payload, increased ground clearance, off-road suspension and tyres, and a 4.5-tonne towing capacity,” said Todd Groves, Ram Trucks New Zealand General Manager.

“The Ram 1500 Rebel also packs premium features typically reserved for top-spec US models, including a panoramic sunroof, 19-speaker audio, a 14.4-inch touchscreen, and heated and cooled seats, because you shouldn’t have to choose between capability and luxury. And with a heavy-duty tow bar included as standard, it’s ready to work straight from the showroom”.

The MY25 Ram 1500 Rebel is powered by the new-generation twin-turbo in-line 3.0-litre six-cylinder ‘Hurricane’ engine. With outputs of 313kW and 635Nm, the Standard Output ‘Hurricane’ engine has 7.6 per cent more power and 14.2 per cent more torque than the previous 5.7-litre Hemi V8 (291kW and 556Nm).

Previous independent tests have shown the MY25 Ram 1500 powered by the Standard Output ‘Hurricane’ engine can accelerate from 0 to 100kmh in 6 seconds or less – faster than V8s in the category, including the previous Hemi.

More about the 10.25-inch front seat passenger screen:

The front seat passenger can connect their phone via Bluetooth to access music controls using the 10.25-inch screen rather than their handheld device.

With a USB-C to HMDI cable, the 10.25-inch screen can mirror a smartphone screen and enable the front seat passenger to watch movies and video clips.

In co-pilot mode, the front seat passenger can access the vehicle’s embedded navigation system via the 10.25-inch screen to search for destinations or add stopovers – then, at the press of a button, transfer the route to the main 14.4-inch infotainment screen so the driver can view instructions.

The front seat passenger can access the camera view at any time on the 10.25-inch display – unless the main 14.4-inch infotainment screen is in camera mode, or the vehicle is in reverse.

The 10.25-inch touchscreen is covered with a privacy film so the display cannot be viewed from the driver’s point of view.
