“Our new IM6 embodies Intelligent Mobility which New Zealand consumers will truly enjoy. They will discover the remarkable features and capability of the vehicle,” said Dean Sheed, Country Business Manager for MG Motor New Zealand.
“Areas such as advanced electrification, its digital chassis and its AI-enhanced cabin are all enabled through the latest generation chipsets from Nvidia or Qualcomm,” he added.
IM6: Bi-directional rear-wheel turning
The all-new IM6 is equipped with bi-directional rear-wheel turning technology, offering up to 12 degrees of rear-wheel articulation. MG claims this is an industry-leading feature, and that this system dramatically reduced the turning circle and transforms the driving experience, making it comparable to that of a compact hatchback.
The enhanced manoeuvrability allows for effortless parking, says MG, and precise navigation through tight urban environments. At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in harmony with the front, improving stability, cornering performance, and overall handling.
IM6: AI Technology and iSMART Compatibility
The IM6 is also equipped with AI technology that enhances driving. Functions such as Rainy Night Mode and One Touch AI Chauffeur utilise the car’s 360-degree cameras to either assist or perform tasks on the driver’s behalf.
The IM6’s compatibility with the MG iSMART mobile application also means owners can control key functions remotely, including monitoring, charging and checking vehicle location and route planning -all from their smartphone. For instance, the iSMART app always shows the vehicle’s precise location on the in-built map, ensuring you never lose track of where you’ve parked.
IM6: Pricing
The pricing for the all-new IM6 is as follows:
- IM6 Premium (75kWh battery, rear-wheel drive) – $66,900 MRP* + on road costs
- IM6 Platinum (100kWh battery, rear-wheel drive) – $77,900 MRP* + on road costs
- IM6 Performance (100kWh battery, all-wheel drive) – $89,900 MRP* + on road costs
*Maximum retail price including GST and excluding on road costs.
About the IM6
IM – short for Intelligence in Motion – is going to be launched in New Zealand by MG Motor as a new premium electric vehicle sub-brand, with the introduction of the IM6. MG claims the IM6 represents a leap forward in zero-emission travel, with IM presented by MG Motor sitting under SAIC and is a joint venture between SAIC, ZJ Hi Tech and Alibaba.
