Forthing NZ will launch in New Zealand this month, introducing the Taikon medium-sized SUV range to the local market. The Taikon will be available in two powertrain options – Super Hybrid and Full EV – each offered in two variants: the well-appointed Luxury and the premium Exclusive.
The company says the model is designed to deliver style, comfort, and versatility.
Based in Liuzhou, in the Guangxi province of China, Forthing brings over 70 years of automotive expertise to its latest lineup. Founded in 1954, Forthign says the brand has cemented its place in the industry and is now focused on new energy vehicles (NEV) as part of an international strategy to deliver feature-rich, competitively priced cleaner vehicles that meet market demand worldwide.

The Taikon offers drivers a choice between an advanced full EV and a range-extended Super Hybrid powertrain . With a coupe-like silhouette, and a vibrant colour palette, the Taikon is designed to make every day feel like the start of the weekend, whether navigating the school run or escaping on a spontaneous adventure, claims Forthing.
Todd Groves, General Sales Manager for Forthing NZ, says: “Our role is to bring New Zealanders competitive new choices that make sense for their lifestyle. The Forthing Taikon, with its compelling blend of design and outstanding value, does exactly that. By launching with both Luxury and Exclusive variants, we’re setting a great value for money option for Kiwi buyers—delivering premium design, pioneering technology, and exceptional value to create serious excitement in the market.”

At the heart of the Taikon’s innovation is its flexible electric architecture. The pure electric EV model delivers an estimated over 400km WLTP range on a single charge.
For those seeking increased range capabilities, the Super Hybrid powertrain offers a combination of a petrol engine and electric with the ability for the user to choose. The Super Hybrid can also run solely on electric power for up to 183kms or a combined mode which can deliver a total range of more than 1,000km.

The Forthing Taikon range will be supported by a nationwide dealer network. Further details on the network, pricing, and specifications will be shared shortly.
The Forthing Taikon range will be on sale and available for immediate delivery in New Zealand from 17 April 2026.
