For all of the recent developments within the automotive industry, one of the more encouraging trends has been the steady extension of new‑vehicle warranties.

In general, warranties are getting longer, as manufacturers attempt to entice new customers to their brand — not to mention the peace of mind it provides consumers who preparing to make one of the most expensive purchases of their lives.

For several years, Mitsubishi held the spotlight with their diamond advantage new vehicle warranty, offering service activated 10-year/160,000kms warranty on top of a 5 year/130,00km new vehicle warranty.

More recently, MG overtook them with a service activated 10-year/250,000kms warranty on top of a 7 year/unlimited kilometre new vehicle warranty.

That was the case — until today, with Nissan announcing the introduction of their Nissan MORE Ownership Program.

The MORE program will provide customers with a service activated 10-year/300,000km vehicle warranty, over and above their standard 5 year/150,000km new vehicle warranty, for eligible vehicles purchased new from Nissan as of April 2026.

Nissan is also offering a backdated warranty extension for eligible vehicles purchased new from 1 January 2023.

Like others, Nissan’s MORE program includes 24/7 roadside assistance programme and fixed-cost servicing for eligible vehicles, including the Qashqai, X-Trail, Patrol, the new Navara and the Nissan Z. A service for Qashqai’s and X-Trail owners will cost $499, owners of Patrols, Navara’s and Nissan Z’s will pay $599.

Anyway, we’re just happy to hear of some news where consumers are getting a better deal — particularly in this macro-economic climate.
