Taking its name from the Japanese kanji script meaning Flash of Light, Subaru says the All-Wheel Drive WRX Senkō marks that moment where everything changes. The instant that acceleration hits and the split second between intention and action.

Finished in an exclusive Sunrise Yellow, the $74,990 WRX Senkō is destined to be rare, with only 10 limited-edition models released in New Zealand.

The WRX has long been associated with its rally roots and the Senkō takes on that heritage and adds road-sharpened features including:

  • Exclusive Sunrise Yellow exterior colour
  • Rear exterior badge of the kanji script for Senkō
  • 19-inch matte black alloy wheels
  • RECARO® sports bucket seats (driver and front passenger) in Ultrasuede® with leather-look accents
  • Yellow and black seat trim with yellow contrast stitching
  • Gold Brembo brakes
  • Driver mode settings
  • Satellite navigation
  • Large rear spoiler
  • Presentation key box with the Senkō’s number e.g. 1/10

For more than three decades, the WRX nameplate has represented the beating performance heart of the Subaru brand. From its rally-bred origins through to today’s advanced Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive platform, Subaru claims the WRX has become one of the most recognisable driver-focused performance vehicles in New Zealand and a defining part of Subaru’s identity.

In keeping with its enthusiast focus, the WRX Senkō will be offered exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, reinforcing its emphasis on driver engagement, with its 2.4-litre turbocharged Boxer engine delivering 202 kW of power.

Proudly bearing the kanji symbol for Senkō as a rear badge, this piece of Subaru history comes with an exclusive numbered presentation key box – from 1 to 10 – similar to the other WRX special editions AKA, Tatsu and Todoroki.

Each WRX Senkō buyer will also be gifted an STI watch valued at over $1,000.

Jerry Delaney, General Manager of Inchcape New Zealand, the distributor of Subaru, says the WRX 2.4T Senkō pays tribute to Subaru New Zealand’s continued commitment to offering special edition WRXs to Kiwis.

“Our recently released WRX limited editions the AKA, Tatsu and Todoroki, which were only available in very restricted numbers, have all gone on to be highly prized collectors’ models in New Zealand. They have had great resale value and are extremely sort after, even on the second-hand market.”

“Like its limited-edition counterparts, the Senkō comes solely in a manual-only configuration, delivering a more focused and distinctive driving experience for passionate fans of the brand.”

“It’s aggressive rear wing, combined with the exclusive Sunrise Yellow finish and distinctive design details, all herald the Senkō as a blazing bright model created for the Subaru enthusiasts who have loved and supported WRX for generations,” Delaney says.
