smart is set to expand its presence in New Zealand with the all-new smart #5 arriving in dealerships now. The company claims this is model is a premium, medium-to-large electric SUV combines long-range capability, advanced technology, luxury appointments, Euro-NCAP five-star safety and high-performance driving in one extremely compelling package.
The #5 will be available alongside the #1 and #3 through the smart dealer network, with dealers now located in Auckland (Albany and Botany), Hamilton, Tauranga and Christchurch.
It will be presented in three distinct variants. These include the technology-laden smart #5 PRO+, the highly-specified smart #5 Premium and the performance-focused smart #5 BRABUS – offering Kiwi customers a new high-end electric SUV proposition, says smart.
The smart #5 enters the New Zealand market “with a clear focus on premium quality, innovation, safety and everyday usability, while delivering the performance and range expected by discerning EV buyers”, says the company.

Smart #5 PRO+
Entry to the new #5 range is via the rear-wheel drive PRO+. Smart claims this is engineered with safety as a priority, the starting variant achieved a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and was recognised as Euro NCAP’s Safest Large SUV of 2025. (Rating applicable to all #5 variants).
The PRO+ includes a large panoramic glass roof with powered sunroof blind, smartphone wireless charging, automated and remote parking, Over the Air updates, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go.
From an electrical standpoint, the smart #5 features a 100kWh LFP battery, Vehicle to Load capability and has a range of 540km (WLTP).

Inside, features are headlined by dual 13-inch OLED displays, a Head-Up Display and a premium 20-speaker Sennheiser sound system with Dolby Atmos audio.
Smart claims practicality remains central to the smart #5 proposition, with generous cabin space, intelligent storage solutions and towing capability of up to 1,600kg, expanding its appeal for active lifestyles.
Advanced driver assistance technology includes smart Pilot Assist, a 360-degree camera system and 12 parking sensors.
smart #5 BRABUS: performance flagship arrives
For customers seeking greater performance and dynamic capability, the smart #5 BRABUS arrives as the halo model of the range.
With dual-motor all-wheel drive producing up to 475kW of power, the smart #5 BRABUS accelerates from 0–100km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
The BRABUS variant combines this performance with distinctive styling, premium finishes and a stronger dynamic character, while retaining the advanced technology and everyday practicality of the wider smart #5 range.
