Foton has officially returned to the New Zealand light commercial vehicle market with the launch of the all-new Tunland V Series Ute range.
Positioned between traditional dual-cab utes and larger full-sized pickups, Foton says the new Tunland V Series occupies a unique space in the market, delivering rugged practicality with increased road presence, comfort, and versatility.

The line-up consists of two distinct models – the V7 and V9 – both powered by a 2.0 litre Foton Aucan advanced, turbo-diesel engine, paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.
Known for powering Foton light commercial trucks and utes, the Aucan Series engine boasts a B10-tested lifespan of 500,000km, emphasing reliability and low-down torque. The powertrain delivers 120kW of power and 450Nm of torque, combining smooth and responsive performance with impressive capability, says the company.

Designed to meet the demands of both commercial and recreational users, the Tunland V Series range offers towing capacity of up to 3,500kg and payloads of up to 1,115kg, depending on variant.
Prices start from $48,990 MRP (plus ORC) for the V7C 4×2.

Two Models Designed for Different Lifestyles
Foton says the Tunland V Series range has been tailored to suit a variety of customers, with two distinct model lines available.
V7 Series
Available in V7-C 4×2 and V7-C 4×4 configurations, the V7 is focused on workready durability and practicality. Designed with fleets, tradespeople, and business operators in mind, the V7 offers over 1,000kg payload capacity alongside the essential features needed for everyday commercial use, claims Foton.
V9 Series
The V9-S, available in 4×4, has been developed for drivers seeking greater comfort, refinement, and lifestyle versatility. Featuring multi-link rear suspension, enhanced interior comfort, and additional technology features, the V9-S is apparently equally suited to weekday duties and weekend adventures.

Advanced Safety and Ownership Support
Foton says the Tunland V Series come equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems, including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), providing added confidence and safety behind the wheel.

There is a seven-year unlimited kilometre warranty, seven years of roadside assistance, and servicing intervals set at 15,000 kilometres or 12 months, whichever occurs first.
Supporting the launch is a growing dealer network across major centres, ensuring customers receive localised sales and aftersales support throughout ownership.
“The launch of the all-new Tunland V Series marks an exciting new chapter for Foton in New Zealand,” said Roger Jory CEO of Foton New Zealand.

“We recognise that Kiwi customers demand vehicles that are capable, reliable, and offer outstanding value, and the V7 and V9 have been developed with those expectations firmly in mind.
Combining bold design, advanced technology, hybrid diesel powertrain innovation, and strong towing and off-road capability, the TUNLAND V Series has been developed to meet the needs of both hardworking commercial, rural operators and modern lifestyle ute buyers across the country”.
