If you thought tyre pressure sensors where hi-tech you might get pretty blown away by the next evolution of tyre sensors. Continental are developing sensors that will not only monitor the pressure in the tyre but also measure the thread depth too. These new sensors would gather data on tread wear, deformation and rolling characteristics and are planned to be integrated into the company’s upcoming eTIS (electronic Tire Information System) which customers will see available in 2017.
